In 2001, a 20-something- year-old sat in his office, slaving away for hours on end with one goal in mind: to help people celebrate and share life's most meaningful moments. That's when a company called Platinum Innovation Group came to be.

12 years and 100+ employees later, we're spreading our wings and kicking some major a$% to elevate our company to the next level.

And today, we’re proud to announce that through all of the blood (ok, ok, maybe not blood), sweat (from those epic ping-pong matches) and tears (Joey is pretty damn funny), we’re reaching a major milestone in that transformation.

Yes, it’s true...We’re saying goodbye to our old company name, Platinum Innovation Group… and hello to our new brand, Hello Innovation!

If you haven’t already heard about us, Hello Innovation is a feisty group of more than 100 people who love technology, innovation, breaking the rules and making amazing things happen. And we’re excited to be launching the new Hello Innovation brand in our favorite city...Detroit!

So tell us about yourself, Hello Innovation…

This calls for a story. Ready?

It all started back in 1980, when our CEO, Joe Joachim, was born. Joey was... different. He didn’t listen in school. He didn’t like rules. And he didn’t care what others thought. He was always more focused on his next adventure...

At the young age of 9, Joey started thinking about how he could help people celebrate life’s most memorable moments through technology. So, he convinced his parents to buy him a Tandy TL computer and started a birthday banner printing business, making $70/week.

When Joey grew up, the idea of helping people make life’s moments more meaningful stuck. He wanted to invent products that create emotional connections from the time someone is born until the time they pass away. And that’s how Hello Innovation (then known as Platinum Innovation Group) came to be.

Joey Joachim bootstrapped Hello Innovation with no VC funding or investors. What started out as a birthday banner business is now a growing enterprise with a portfolio of successful companies and products that touch over 20 million people every month... and we’re still growing like crazy.

Why Detroit?

When the Hello Innovation team decided to move our headquarters outside of the scenic small-town, St. Clair, MI, we didn’t choose Silicon Valley, New York, Boston or Chicago.

We chose Detroit.

Sure, there are many companies and startups who move to those “hip” cities. But, you know what’s even cooler? Being a part of something bigger than ourselves. Something meaningful. Something that doesn’t happen everyday.

And that’s why we moved to the historic Globe Building in the heart of downtown Detroit.

It’s exciting to be a part of one of the largest movements in history to put a city back on the map. And now? Now is our time.

It’s not everyday that you see people from all walks of life come together to roll up their sleeves and fight for the future of our great city. You see... Detroit has different story to tell than the one you read in the newspapers. Where most read about bankruptcy, crime and abandonment, we’re inspired by a city bursting at the seams with positive energy, opportunity, hope and unwavering spirit.

When we first arrived at our new home at the Globe Building, we noticed something special about it. The “down” button on our elevator was broken.  And that’s when we knew we were home. Why? Because at Hello Innovation, there’s only going up from here.

So what are you waiting for? We’re looking for 60+ people to join us as we collaborate at the craziest office space in town. Together, we believe we can change the way the world celebrates life and put the D back on the map.
